Check out that date – 12/12/12!
That’s not happening again anytime soon! Seems like a party should be in order, but nothing like that is happening around here.
Mr. H went to work for a couple of hours this morning, came home for lunch and left again on errands.
I did some cleaning and laundry this morning. Whoo hoo!
Then Norah and I made and decorated some Christmas cookies.
We used my mom’s mom’s recipe. It’s a good one. Or maybe I should say, best ever. Here is the recipe if you are interested…
Gramma Patch’s Best Ever Sugar Cookies
- 1 c. butter, softened
- 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
Now do the cookie mixing thing – cream the butter and sugar – add the egg – mix – add the vanilla and almond – mix – in a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar – mix – add to creamed mixture – mix until just combined.
You can either gather the dough into a ball, place between waxed paper, press into a disc and refrigerate until firm and roll out and cut out shapes – or – you can do the slice and bake method – or – you can use a cookie scoop and press them flat using the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in sugar. I used the last method.
Bake them at 375 degrees F. 7-8 minutes or just till very lightly browned. Underbake them if you like them soft, bake them till they’re a bit browned if you like a little “crunch.”
Garrett was our official taste tester.
Nothing else too exciting around here. Garrett’s napping. Norah’s coloring.
Tonight we will be going to church. Norah has her Cubbie pizza party. She is very excited about that.
Hope you have a good 12/12/12!
